In 2005, the St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit began looking for exceptional young women to represent them as the Queen of the Highlands. The Queen participates in various events and parades throughout the year acting as the ambassador for the society and promoting the Highland Games which are held the first weekend in August every year.

Interviews are held each spring and a Queen and two court members are chosen at the Tartan Day Ceilidh in April. These three ladies represent the society throughout the year and the highlight of the season is the Highland games where they will reign for the entire weekend. Their busy weekend begins with the Ceilidh on Friday night where they are all presented with their scholarship monies, and continues on Saturday as they participate in various activities at the games.

The 2008 Queen is Fiona Dohanoys
Court member is Sarah Kaminski
